Counselling for Trauma

A trauma is an experience or situation that is emotionally painful and distressing, and which overwhelms a person’s ability to cope.  It can also include physical and psychological aspects.  Generally, the person is powerless over the trauma itself and its immediate consequences.

Traumatic events do upset the victim’s fundamental assumptions about the safety of the world.  In my work with traumatised people, I have found that these assumptions can cause them to become withdrawn, isolated and disconnected and can lead to serious depression.  By helping each person to slowly process the trauma, I strive to eventually bring them back to a place of safety and emotional well-being.  In this way they can reconnect with the world again and live their life to fullest.

Trauma happens to us without our choice – let me help you to take back your power.
