Counselling for Bereavement and Loss
The death of someone you love is one of the most profound losses that a person can experience. The grief felt can be overwhelming and, at times, completely debilitating. However, the death of a loved one is not the only reason a person may experience feelings of bereavement and loss. With regard to grieving, I truly believe that it is a highly individual process and that there is no one way to experience bereavement. For everyone, the grieving process takes time and it’s important to be patient with yourself. However, if you feel that you have become stuck in your grief, or it feels too much to bear, I will journey with you. By helping you process these intense emotions, it is possible to make life bearable at present and to overcome many of the obstacles which are preventing you from moving forward.
Loss can be felt in many different areas of a person’s life and I have experience of working on all of them with people over the years - issues such as divorce, loss of health, loss of a job, retirement, loss of financial stability, miscarriage, a family member’s serious illness, loss of a friendship, or loss of security after a trauma – to name but a few. I will work to help you process what you are feeling – and we will also explore the’ inner dialogue’ that is going on inside you but which is getting in the way of you moving forward in your life.
Grieving is a natural process. I work with clients to help them experience it in their own way but without them ‘parking’ there.
