Counselling for individuals
Providing adults and young people / teenagers with a safe place of trust, confidentiality and comfort is the essence of my approach. In this way, clients can explore and accept who they are – but, at the same time, take responsibility for any behaviours that are causing them difficulties and need to change. My role is to provide the understanding and encouragement clients need to take this ‘real self’ into the outside world and help clients find their voice to be ‘true to themselves’.
The objective of my work is to help clients become aware of unhelpful thinking which is leading to destructive patterns of feelings and behaviour and, thereby, causing them difficulties.
By engaging in the process of therapy, clients begin to think differently – is this way, they are no longer a product of their past but, now, are a product of their own choices. As such, they can move forward in their lives feeling much more empowered and fulfilled.
Issues that I deal with in therapy sessions include:
- trauma
- sexual intimacy issues (gay / heterosexual)
- self esteem
- relationships (addictive / co-dependent)
- depression
- abuse
- addiction (particularly recognising addictive behaviour in children / young adults)
- anxiety / stress / panic attacks / social anxiety
- bereavement / loss / grief
- family conflict / arguments
- relationships (abusive / narcissistic)
- self management / leadership
- sexual abuse
- work / performance issues
- bullying
When everything seems so bleak, counselling with Margaret is your first step in making your life better.
