Counselling for Couples, Families and Personal Relationships
In my work with families, couples and organisations, I focus on the overall ‘system’ that is in place – the intention is to help everyone understand the patterns and dynamics that the couple, family or organisation have constructed together. Exploring the commonly held concept of the ‘difficult child’, ‘difficult partner’ or ‘difficult work colleague’ usually results in new insights into the overall situation.
In this way, individuals learn to better understand each other’s needs with any misunderstandings, wrong meanings or inherited, unconscious rules being identified and clarified.
Clients can then learn to reframe meanings and find new, more respectful ways of communicating and connecting. In my work, there is a significant focus on providing the awareness and the tools necessary to achieve this respectful communication.
