Programme Outline:
This interactive and experiential programme supports the professional to take an interactive role in their client’s recovery.   It addresses the following issues:
What do we mean by Narcissism? What is the difference between healthy and unhealthy narcissism?  How do recognise a Narcissistic personality when they present? What do we mean by the full spectrum of narcissism?  Are we aware about how this type of personality impacts on us the caring professional and why?     And how it might affect our work with the individual, couple or a family we are working with?  Do we professionals have narcissistic traits and how might this impact on our work with our clients?  How might we have been conditioned this way?  Do we understand why the narcissist might be attracted to our client and our client to the narcissist?  How would we recognise a Narcissistic Family System?  Do we live in a narcissistic society and if so what role does it play?  Do we recognise when our client is being subjected to ‘Gaslighting’ – ‘Triangulation’ – (taking places in family and non-family situations)?  Do we understand why our client in particular might be vulnerable to such treatment?  What role does addiction play in narcissistic abuse?   How do we support the client to exit an unhealthy relationship?   What are the 5 stages of recovery?

Margaret Parkes (Dip. Psych., BA, MSc.) has practiced as a psychotherapist and systemic practitioner for over 15 years.  She is a qualified and experienced facilitator and has experienced significant success with this model.
